Emerging TechnologiesEmerging Technologies are very diverse. They can range from generic services such as using a computer programme to enter daily transactions (many businesses currently use this process) to highly specialised applications such as using industry-specific equipment to perform a complex task (i.e. using laser to measure the exact dimensions of an object). They cover and cross many industry sectors. They may be the basis of an entirely new industry or simply of new processes in an existing industry. The Emerging Technologies Working Group focused its activities on the Photonics and Nanotechnology. The Working Group Report highlights a number of issues, including:
A Task Force will be established shortly to work to six objectives to support the development of a skilled workforce ready to accept the challenge associated with emerging technologies. Management Committee and Working Group
